Just the workout, on your smart trainer
No virtual world, no avatar. Pick a workout and your trainer sets the power for every interval.
- Zone 2 to VO2 intervals
- ERG, slope and resistance
- Apple Watch on its own
- No account
Which trainers work
Your trainer works if it shows up under Fitness Machines in the app’s Devices list.
- Bluetooth FTMS trainers and bikes
- ERG, slope and resistance, as many as the trainer reports, and the app offers only those. A bike with resistance only, such as a Domyos, gets resistance mode.
- Van Rysel Turbo D100
- ERG, slope and resistance, with power from the trainer. It sends no cadence, so pair a cadence sensor for that.
- Power meters and cadence sensors
- Use one as the source for power or cadence. On a trainer the app cannot control, Record Without Control records the ride from them.
Planned workouts
Zone 2 to VO2 intervals scaled to your FTP, a ramp test, or build your own. The trainer sets the power for every interval.
Full trainer control
ERG, resistance and slope modes, with shortcuts for quick changes mid-ride.
On your wrist
Start a ride on Apple Watch alone. The Watch connects to your smart trainer itself and shows the plan, with a tap on your wrist before each change.
Your numbers
Power, cadence, speed, heart rate, distance and energy, with heart rate and power zones. Every ride is saved to Apple Health.
Questions
- Is it an alternative to Zwift?
- For structured workouts, yes. There is no virtual world, avatar or group ride, and no account. You pick a workout and the trainer follows it.
- Do I need a smart trainer?
- For the app to set the power, yes: a Bluetooth FTMS trainer or bike. With only a power meter or cadence sensor, it records the ride without control.
- Does my data leave my device?
- Workouts go to Apple Health and the rest syncs through your own iCloud. None of it reaches us.
